To get to the pyramids from the main city of Cairo, you should take buses numbered 335 or 357 as they are big and air conditioned. There are also microbus services available to get to the tourist spot. If you miss any bus, you can avail taxi services. The fare for the taxi ride to the pyramids may be around 15 pounds.
Opening and Closing Time
The Pyramid area remains opened for the people throughout the year. In some cases, admission in certain areas of the pyramid may be limited if there is any repairmen or renovation work undertaken. The pyramids of Giza, Sakkara and Dashur open at 8.00 am and close at 5.30 pm. The most of the archaeological sites in Egypt open at around 9.00 am and close by 5.00 pm. It is completely prohibited to climb the pyramids. You can climb up the stone steps that lead to the entrance into the pyramid. There are stairs in some pyramids in such cases, you can use them. As the pyramid area is not smooth to walk, the visitors are advised to wear good walking shoes. You must refrain from touching any art, statue, painting or writing inside the pyramid wall. You should try to visit the pyramid before 4 pm because the last ticket is sold at 4.15pm and at that time the site becomes crowded.
