In the year of 1994 The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been established by the Telecommunication Ordinance. It also created the PTCL in the same year same time. PTCL is a state owned company. In 1990s there were less competition and for this reason the telephone call rate were very high. International call rate was higher. Etisalat International Pakistan bought 26% stake in PTCL in the year of 2006. It is a subsidiary of Emirates telecommunications Limited. In a survey of 2008 statistics showed that this country is more active in mobile sector rather than landline sector. The people of this country have sent over 151 billion text messages during 2009. It was the third highest sms trafficking in the world in the year of 2010. The users of fixed line company dropped from 5.2 million to 3.4 million in 2009-10.
